Well, as I'm selling off my pony collection off and putting the money back into my doll collection, it has occured to me that I want to get mostly dolls and save clothing and accessories for later, since they're less expensive. I know I'm more then able to get the five AGs still on my list, and now I'm starting to look at what else I'd like to add to my collection in the area of other dolls.

I seem to really like the 18 inch vinyl dolls, and three in particular have caught my eye: Carpatina, Life of Faith and Gotz Little Sisters. So let's get some reviews and some pics of your non-AG girls? Pretty please? *bats eyes*

I have a Carpatina doll (Emma) I haven't had a chance to play with her yet, beyond dressing her, but I can tell you the quality is wonderful. Though they have vinyl bodies, the quality is on par with AG. I even thought her eyes and hair were a little better! Their eyelashes are sooo pretty.

I only briefly saw a LoF doll (Violet) in person. She was pretty too! The fact that they don't have sleep eyes, though, gives me the creeps to be honest. I'm from that school of girls who had to put her dolls in the closet every night, because I didn't want them watching me while I slept.

Same here. I have over 50 18" standing articulated softbody vinyl playdolls, only three of which are AGs, pictures are in my albums on the site listed below. I would be happy to answer any questions about my dolls.

You might also want to look over Maria's Meet The Dolls site for reviews on the various 18" dolls out there.

I don't have one of these dolls but I really want one:

Gali Girls which are 18in Jewish dolls. There are 4 modern and 1 historical. I I believe the redhead(the one I want) is the same doll for both the historical and one of the modern ones. They're $60. The website says their clothes fit AG and they come with an English/Hebrew birth certificate with a random name(like Cabbage Patch) and for an additional $3 you can get a cert. specially made with the girl's own name or other name.

I have one Little Sisters doll (Tess) that I got right before I left for Honduras. She's great. She looks fabuluous in Addy's striped dress. When I get home I would like to get LS Katie. I don't really like those think bangs and Katie doesn't have any. I also have 1 Our Generation doll named Keisha. I don't usually like OG, but I found this doll at Marshall's for $11. She really is beautiful. I think when I come home I'm going to rewig her. Her hair is the only thing I don't like about her.

For a super-long review of the Life of Faith dolls, this is a FAQ I made over the past few months:

    http://www.angelfire.com/mi/FAST/lifeoffaith.html

Unfortunately, I only have pictures of Elsie, since that's the doll I have. Jamie and I are moderating a brand-new Life of Faith/Martha Finley mailing list, and she has uploaded some pictures of Violet and Millie there. For a photo of Laylie, Maria's Just Magic website has a nice picture.
